The vinyl compilation
"From Our Hoodz to Yourz" on
Angelmaker Records is finally official after circulating as white label. The idea behind the record is that artists produce a track which reminds them of their hometown.
The titles Cleveland, Den Haag, New Orleans and Utrecht are well known cities or at least does ring a bell. Vallhamra is situated in Sweden, but the last track "Hmainham" by the Finnish
Lackluster is kind of a mysterious city.
Even Google did not find the way to "Hmainham"...
Lackluster aka Esa Juhani Ruoho explains in his email to us:
"
Hey,
I was contacted a day before the vinyl went to pressing, was told, give us less than 3 minute long song (someone had a song - but pulled out at the last days - so I was asked to replace the tune with something else) - I finished some new-ish song (May/June/July 2005 around that timeperiod) - and it came out. Yours is the first feedback on the track on the 12" - I have seen it listed up - but they only talk about the other techno/electro tracks without even a sentence or a word about my track - which is a bit of a black sheep compared to the other tracks.
Hmainham - when you have it backwards, its mah niamh -> my niamh, Niamh is my girlfriend, I lived in Kilmainham when I made the track - but didn't want that to be bvious - so I called it Hmainham. I did it with her in mind - in Kilmainham, so it akes sense."
The track is a great electronic composition and sounds fresh between the other quality tracks by Dan Curtin, Syncom Data, Sir Stephan, Funckarma (as Cane & Polycorn) and Inkinen.
